Mersea island has so much to offer from couples to family alike with beautiful walks along the estuary to walks through the village, water sports including sailing, boat trips and crabbing.  Lots of restaurants including the famous Oyster Bar or you may want to source local produce from the village shops with its abundance of coffee shops.

Watersports

Watersports of all varieties are popular on the island. Mersea Island Watersports offer kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing & windsurfing.

Vineyard

The present Mersea Island Vineyard was established in 1985. Today there are about ten acres, five grape varieties, producing some twenty thousand bottles each year.

Boat Trips

Boat trips to capture the beautiful Mersea Island sunset or take a trip to Bradwell. Lady Grace boat trips. These run from Brightlingsea.

Museum

Mersea Museum was established in 1976. Opening throughout the summer afternoons you’ll find local activities represented along with 2,000 year old contents of Mersea Barrow.

Country Park

Cudmore Grove Country Park is an amazing Nature Reserve. Explore coastal walks, beach and themed kids play area.

Foot Ferry

Take the Foot Ferry to Brightlingsea. Custom build ferry boat allows for wheelchair users and cycle access as well as foot passengers.
